Happy World Food Day!

Today is World Food Day and October 24th is our National Food Day.

Last weekend I went to Boston with Chris for a long weekend and I have never felt more connected to the spirit of our American Revolution and to the Patriots who built this country.

Join me today in re-sharing Jamie Oliver's Global petition. I couldn't resist taking some more "sign it, share it" selfie pics in front of some historic Revolutionary sites... Today, the USA + UK is gathering to fight for something together with a global team:

Food Education & Food Truth

We've reached 1.6 million signatures and we need to get to 2 million. It's T-minus 1 month to go until the the G20 Summit in Turkey. Take a minute to read Jamie's petition letter today and watch his video --> Jamie Oliver Petition Update

The brave are gathering - Our Food Revolution is alive and well.

Speaking of Brave, professional athletes are speaking up. Thank you Tom Brady (aka Paul Revere) Read all about what he said here.

FOOD DAY UPDATES:

I'm in the trenches as a Volunteer Chicago Food Day planner. Check out all that we are planning to help Chicagoans connect to more local, sustainable and clean food next week -->

Hidden Harvest Chicago - Get your Twitter on! Follow @FoodDayChi + @HiddenCashChi1 to find hidden envelopes all over Chicago starting on Thursday October 22 and running through Saturday October 24th. We have stuffed 15 envelopes with over 4K worth of cash, gift cards, vouchers and a cookbook to connect winners with local Chicago & Lake County restaurants, urban farms and cooking schools. Learn more about our epic sponsors and the details to the "eatreal" treasure hunt here. Thank you to Ambassadors Sarvin Haghighi (Chicago), Vanessa Green (Chicago), and Christina Erickson (Lake County) for joining our Food Day team! It's gonna be crazy fun and we're kicking it off at our Daley Plaza event!!

Midwest Big Apple Crunch - Not only are we crunching apples together at Daley Plaza on October 22, we're crunching apples here in Lake County too! Big apple LOVE out to Preferred Meals who is donating over 1100 apples to our District 76 schools! Thanks to the incredible collaborative efforts of the Stevenson High School Food Revolution Club, student volunteers have organized local Lake County schools to crunch apples together. The Food Rev Club secured over 2,000 apples to be distributed which will impact over 3,000 students in school districts 103, 75, 76 and the Little Patriots Preschool program in district 125. Huge thanks go out to Sara Lohrman (SHS teacher & Food Revolution Club advisor) and fellow Ambassador Christina Erickson (SHS teacher & Food Revolution Club) for organizing this incredible volunteer event.  Sara, Christina and I will be crunching together with volunteers and students in the lunch rooms on Friday, October 23rd!!

See you on the other side of Food Day 2015!
